7,958 Best LoFi Sample Packs & Loops 2024

Last Updated on January 1, 2024

Lo-fi is no longer obscure. Nor does it merely refer to a genre. It’s officially a buzzword. And that means it's quickly infiltrating every genre out there, even if it's just subtle lo-fi effects on specific instrument tracks.

Every beatmaker, composer, songwriter, rapper, and producer are now actively seeking out that warble, warmth, dust, grit, and vintage vibe, across an array of musical styles and genres. Though there is little doubt it shines in chillout genres of all kinds, including ambient, downtempo, jazz hop, and many others.

Trying to figure it all out yourself and purchasing expensive outboard gear is generally not the path to gratification or enlightenment. The perfect starting place for most will be pre crafted and processed samples and loops, and in this guide, we look at the best lo-fi sample packs and loops.

What Does Royalty Free Mean?

When samples are royalty free, it means you don't owe any money on the samples you use in your projects, even if they are officially distributed and released to major platforms like Spotify.

Samples, after all, are someone else's creation. If they are original creations, the creator is free to do with them as they please. They are not obligated to make them royalty free. That's really a service they're offering.

Most if not all sample packs and loops with price tags, however, are royalty free. But it's always worth checking before you begin using them on your projects, especially projects you intend to release commercially.

Even when sample packs are royalty free, it's well worth checking the terms. Does the creator require you to seek out permission? Do they require attribution? And if the samples aren't royalty free, what do you owe the creator when you use them? Further, is the content original or was it taken from somewhere (if it was taken from somewhere, you would need to seek clearance for use on a commercial project).

Again, if the samples aren't original, it's quite unlikely the creator would charge for them, so there isn't too much to worry about there.

Basically, the ideal situation for most producers like you is to be able to take advantage of royalty free samples with no strings attached.

Top LoFi Sample Packs, Final Thoughts

There are so many great lo-fi sample packs and loops out there, we’ve barely even scratched the surface. If there’s something you’re looking for, chances are you can find it. No matter your goal, or what type of lo-fi project you have in mind, or what style or genre, you’ve got everything you need, right at your fingertips, to make your creative visions a reality.

Once you've got the hang of things, be sure to experiment. This is where a lot of the fun happens. Mixing and matching samples across different collections, mangling the sounds using your favorite processing and effects, editing the MIDI files to come up with fresh derivations on inspiring ideas. This, to me, is where the real juice is.

But no matter your approach, the main thing to remember is to have fun!
